“We always felt that it was funny when we were on the show,” Cook told IdolChatter, “that everyone tried to create this ‘David vs. David’ thing. We just didn’t get it.”

The two Davids were the last contestants standing on AI Season 7 and Cook won on May 21, 2008 with 56 percent of the vote. Today both Davids on their concert tours and doing quite well.

“I talk to Archie every couple of weeks,” Cook said. “He’s a great guy. One of the nicest people I think I have ever met.

“I was one of his biggest fans and still am.”

So I wrote an earlier post about how American Idol should create a DVD for Season 7 and everyone was urging me to start a petition for it, so I did. So if you agree with me on American Idol making a season 7 DVD please sign it. We need a lot of signatures in order for this to turn out. So tell everybody! Put it on your facebook, myspace, etc. all you need to do is sign your name. Even start contacting Cook fans, Jason fans, Brooke fans, anybody! We need signatures! Here is what the petition says so that you know what you’re signing:

“Simon Fuller, along with 19 Recordings/RCA Records and Capital Entertainment, has released either a CD or DVD for every season of American Idol except Season 7. This is a petition to get AI and Simon Fuller to package and distribute the entire seventh season of American Idol on DVD. In fact I believe it was their greatest season of ALL time!

The main reason is because of David Archuleta, but also the other contestants. When I watched that season I went through different emotions every week. I cried when Brooke White got voted off and when David Archuleta came in second place (only for a minute though, then I realized that he would get a record deal of his own.) I got furious when Michael Johns got voted off, after he did an amazing rendition of “Dream on”. I got proud when David Archuleta decided not to move to the side that he thought was ‘safe’. I got inspired when David Cook sang “Dream Big”. I got chills when David Archuleta sang “Stand by me”. In fact, whenever someone played “Celebrate Me Home” I would burst into tears. Which brings me to thinking, why haven’t they made an American Idol season 7 DVD package?

I looked on Amazon and the only thing I found of Season 7 was American Idol sheet music Season 1-7, which features David Archuleta’s “Stand by me” (page 66). What they could put on the DVD is: behind the scenes with the Idols, exit interviews, idol gives back, Ford music videos, the finale, elimination nights, the idols performances, and even an idol trivia game. How great would that be?

I would buy that in a heartbeat, but sadly the DVD doesn’t exist.  I ask Why not? American Idol would make tons of money with all of the Archie and Cook fans wanting to get their copy of it. Seriously shouldn’t somebody point this out to Simon Fuller. I’m sure I’m not the only one who visits YouTube every once in a while just to see David Archuleta sing for a minute and a half. Anybody else agree with me? Shouldn’t Season 7 come out on DVD so we can all cherish the good old days of American Idol?

A 23-year-old man named Daniel Bark has since been charged with death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident following Cohen’s death, TMZ reports. Cohen’s body was found by two pedestrians more than 1,000 feet away from her own parked car. Bark faces 15 years in prison if convicted.

David Archuleta Talks American Idol
Runner-up says it doesn’t matter who wins…

David Archuleta, who came second on last year’s American Idol has told MTV News that he was ‘fine’ about not winning the hit US show.

Archuleta who came second to season 8 champion David Cook claimed: “I thought if I win then great but if I don’t win then that’s totally fine. I wasn’t worried about it at all I was worried about performing my best…”

The Idol star, who has already enjoyed huge success in America following his stint on the reality TV show added: “My dream wasn’t to be the winner of American Idol; my dream was to be performing and what I am doing right now.”

David, whose self entitled album charted at number 2 in the US Billboard chart also said: “The show is a great way of getting your name out there, that’s what the show allowed me to do. It opened up a lot of doors and is a great platform.”

See, it’s not all about the winning. Let’s hope this year’s finalists Adam Lambert and Kris Allen take that advice on board.

Once on the show, he was recognized at once as a tremendous talent and received constant waves of praise from the judges — except for occasional, predictable jabs by Simon.

The ladies love him — and some of the guys do, too. He’s humble and self-effacing in interviews and appears to get along well with his fellow contestants and pretty much everyone else.

He was predicted for weeks to have a lock on the “Idol” title.

Who did I just describe? If the topic is “American Idol” season seven, it’s David Archuleta. But step forward a year. Don’t all of the attributes listed above also fit Adam Lambert?

Despite high expectations, David Archuleta didn’t win “American Idol.” Adam Lambert might not, either. And if he doesn’t, it’ll be for many of the same reasons.

Throughout season seven, Li’l David was hailed as the Idol-in-waiting — it was only in the final weeks that the eventual winner, David Cook, began to outshine him. Even then, though, many a reviewer — even yours truly — still thought Li’l D would come out ahead.

Here was the problem: Li’l David sang songs that, for all their pure vocal charisma, didn’t reach as wide an audience as David Cook’s.

You could say it’s because Li’l David was more defined as an artist than David Cook was: Cook was a general studies rocker; Li’l David — if you look at his “American Idol” catalogue — geared more toward uplifting, inspirational songs. David Cook’s songs ran the gamut, but were almost always radio-friendly tweaks that made even dusty old songs — Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello,” for example — seem current.

Adam has Cook’s tune-tweaking talent, too — in fact, I think his song repair shop provides higher-quality service than Cook’s did. But where he aligns more with Archuleta is in his nicheiness.

Adam’s song choices are, to be sure, more interesting than Li’l David’s were — and you’d think that the combination of masterful pipes and songsmithy derring-do would be unbeatable. But the chink in Adam’s armor is also his most powerful asset: his style. Some call it showtuney, some call it “Broadway,” some, like Simon, call it occasionally over-the-top.

Some absolutely love it. But Adam’s approach can be so strong, so heavy-handed that it drives away some listeners even as it coaxes others in. The best example of this would be his much-discussed version of “Ring of Fire” — but this week’s rendition of U2′s “One” would fall into the same category.

Li’l David was taken down by a contestant who had a great voice and a solid fan base, but whose music and songcrafting skills had a wider appeal. Dude in his mid-20s. Grew up near the Mississippi. Plays a guitar. Also got some serious judge love throughout the competition. Ring any bells in this year’s competition?

A final point: “Wait a minute,” you’d say if you were standing here as I was writing this, “what about Simon? He’s said again and again and again that he thinks Adam’s going to win?”

Turns out, he’s been wrong before.

Maybe Kris Allen isn’t as much of a dark horse as some folks might think.

“I don’t really have any other dream,” he said during an interview aired over Magic 89.9’s radio show Friday.

According to the 18-year-old singer-songwriter, he would probably even settle for a small-time career just so he would get to practice his music.

“If it weren’t an international career, it [would] probably [be] at least a domestic career,” he said.

And despite his acting stints on Nickelodeon’s iCarly and Disney’s Hannah Montana, Archuleta said that he’s probably not made for acting either.

“Before until recently I thought I couldn’t act, I’d say I’m a terrible actor,” he said jokingly.

He said, however, that the quick appearances were “a lot of fun.”

“But for now, I’m definitely interested in mainstream music,” he was quick to add.

The Idol star, on the other hand, said that he recognizes how music and acting careers tend to become short-lived.

“I don’t know how long it will last, as much as I’d love to have a career in singing all my life and make a living off of it, you don’t know what can happen, sometimes it even lasts even for a year,” he said.

With that in mind, Archuleta said, it’s really important to keep one’s education “ongoing.”

“It’s an important thing to have there, education always comes in handy anyway,” he said.

He added that besides choir period – which he said probably doesn’t count – his favorite academic subject would be English.

“I really liked English, I’m really bad at writing papers, but everything else I just love it,” he said. – GMANews.TV

When we first saw David Archuleta in January 2008, we heard his story of vocal paralysis and then saw him sail through his audition with a soulful version of John Mayer’s “Waiting on The World to Change.”

Within weeks he had staked a claim as the one to beat in Season 7, especially after his performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” a true “moment” if there every was one on “Idol.”

Although he came up short in the final night of voting, the 17-year-old (now 18) from Salt Lake City, has been on a roll ever since. His eponymous debut album — released in November — has now sold almost 700,000 copies and spawned the addictive radio hit, “Crush.”

And now Archuleta is a virtual touring machine: after “Jingle Ball” shows in December and a February-March solo tour in which almost every night was a sell-out, he’s about to embark on a U.K. tour, to be followed up with a 50-some city tour this summer with Demi Lovato.

Archuleta had to postpone his arrival in the U.K. and cancel two shows there in order to perform live on Idol tonight. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, all signs point to him performing “Touch My Hand” tonight, a song likely to be the third single released from the album.
