Rumor has it there’s a fellow out of Murray by the name of David Archuleta performing in Salt Lake City this weekend. Apparently, he’s gained quite a following.
Oh, so you’ve heard of him?
The 18-year-old “American Idol” alumnus with the Mouseketeer charm and the set of crooner pipes that can have teen girls fainting in five notes or less will be singing for the home crowd at the E Center in West Valley City on Friday, with Amie Miriello and Benton Paul as openers. The show will be his final appearance on his first solo tour, which began late February in Virginia Beach, Va.
“There’s nothing like singing to a home crowd!” Archuleta wrote in an e-mail interview. “The energy is so different, and the feeling is so welcoming from them. The only thing is that I feel like the expectations are set a little higher at home for me, but I still can’t wait to perform for my friends, family and neighbors.”
About two weeks ago I (Holly) went to three David Archuleta concerts three days in a row in three different states. It was the most amazing and exhausting thing I have ever done.
Since David’s tour wasn’t going to be anywhere near where I live I decided I would go to him. I actually saw this quote on Facebook that said “David Archuleta Tour ’09 coming to a city near you…or you’re going to a city near it.” That totally described me.
I picked Chicago because I have friends there, and when I saw that Madison was only about two and a half hours away I decided to go to that one too. That was the plan: to only go to those two shows, but somehow I managed to end up in Duluth for the show there after only being told about it the night before. I had a different experience in each city, all of them being epic.
Of course my wonderful friend and David partner-in-crime Katie went with me to experience the epicness of this trip. When we got to the Nashville airport to catch our plane to Chicago we just about died from excitement.
I was confident that I was going to be able to handle this whole trip thing and it was going to go by smoothly, that all my planning was going to pay off and that there was no need for my mom to have given me that speech on the way there about being careful and keeping up with stuff. I may lose and forget things all the time and I may be a little accident-prone but I knew I had this down.
But then what did I go and do? I lost my boarding pass somewhere in the airport right before boarding the plane. Only I would manage to do something like that. I didn’t see this as a good sign that I was going to handle this trip perfectly when I couldn’t even make it on to the plane to leave without doing something wrong first…

Going back into David Archuleta’s history we come to realize that there is a connection between David Archuleta and the Green Bay Packers and it appears to be the link that launched his musical endeavors. As Sabrina & Marianne from Sharky Archies explains: Jeff and I talked a little about the Packers and he said, [...]

Seton High School will rock Friday morning Oct 24th when “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta visits the West Price Hill school. Archuleta will attend an 10:30 a.m. assembly at the all-women’s school, which collected more than $3,000 in pennies for breast cancer research in a WKRQ-FM (101.9) contest. The 550 students filled 64 one-gallon plastic [...]
