David Archuleta’s (runner-up of last season’s American Idol) self-titled effort brims over with sweet, earnest and sincere love songs that serve well to display the purity and power of his golden vocals.

First single “Crush” is a bonafide pop song. With simple but nonetheless catchy beats, this album opener has become a massive smash on the airwaves. The pop never stops, as “My Hands” comes up next, sounding suspiciously like “Crush”. “Barriers” has a tinkling musical arrangement that grows on you, but the backing canon effect ruins it at the chorus.
