Music…The Universal Language!!

Hi Fan Scene Readers!!

The moon, the sun, the stars…oh, yes, I was gazing at the stars above me and began thinking about this universe of ours…the universe, or what’s more commonly understood to be defined as “the whole of creation comprised of all existing things”. Yes, the universe – a very, very big place in which many people speak many different languages…yet most of us would agree that while we may not speak or understand the many languages that inhabitants of our universe speak, just the sound of music can make this a better place for us all in which to live. And, consequently, music itself can then best be described as a universal language of sorts!! It really doesn’t matter what language a song is sung in, it is the emotion expressed within a song that we can all relate to and feel within us. It’s something that’s often intangible, but something that everyone seems to understand somehow. You can’t see it – you can’t touch it – but you can certainly feel it…. aahh…so now we get it…!! Whether it is the lyrics of a song or the proverbial beat of that song, it’s invariably something that we can all enjoy – something we can all relate to.

There are certain pieces of music that simply lift our spirits – make us want to get up and dance…amongst them “Zero Gravity” seems a good example. There are songs that touch our hearts…for me, ”My Hands” and “Somebody Out There” come to mind. There are those songs that we hear and then sit back and say “been there, experienced that…”, like “Something ‘Bout Love” – a song that can oddly make us happy because it gives us the opportunity to feel a sense of hope!!

Yes, music is a universal language and that is why David’s fans can be found across this universe of ours. His music makes us smile, brings tears to our eyes and causes us to jump up and down – it’s something with which we can all “connect” and a powerful connection it truly is!!

It seems that David is all too aware that life’s opportunities can be fleeting – and thus has learned to take what is given to him. I know at times some of us have lamented over the fact that David has not hit the mega star stage yet – we are an impatient bunch! He should be doing large venue concerts by now, his song should be getting immediate radio play, etc — but life does not always work that way. Sometimes you have to take it one step at a time (to quote Jordin Sparks ) and one opportunity at a time.

I have been musing lately on the choice of the title of David Archuleta’s sophomore album.  I like it…I like it a lot.  It’s quirky enough to be intriguing upon first glance, it’s unexpected, it’s deep, it’s authentic, and it’s so David.

And the official album cover came out today.  David is on a chair tilted on its back legs and he is performing a balancing act, laughing, full of joy although his feet are not flat on the ground.

One can’t help but break out in a big ole’ smile when they see that picture.

And who best to depict the other side of down, as in up in mood, in making forward progress, and outlook even if balanced somewhat precariously.  Great message!

Many of us who inhabit the cyber fan community have commented on the positive message and joy received from the music and from being a fan of David Archuleta’s.  The message is positive; the artist is full of joy.

You probably already know that both Dale Carnegie and Norman Vincent Peale have expounded on the topic of the power of positive thinking in bestsellers.  Anthony Robbins’ books, Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within have it as a central theme.  Yes, these are Self-Help books that many have picked up and made a change in their life, in their outlook.

In fact a huge best seller around the world in the mid 2000’s, The Secret, is all about the power of positive thinking expanding on the Law of Attraction.   The Secret tells us that whatever we focus on, we get more of; that emotions follow thoughts, and actions follow emotions.
