And I found it hard to open up my mouth, will they hear what’s spoken?

but I saw when I opened up my eyes…

Broke, but not broken

Broke, but not broken.

~written by Jon Hunt and David Archuleta

David sings about these children  in this very moving song “Broken” on his new CD BEGIN.  I can’t even get through the song without tears. Honestly, sometimes I skip over the song entirely when listening to BEGIN.  It is heart wrenching what these children experience in their young lives.  Brainwashed, trained to kill, taken from their families…its horrifying.

But I shouldn’t skip over the song. It doesn’t make the horror go away.

It’s time to be inspired to ACT.

David obviously feels strongly about helping these children so he sang a song about them to touch us while he’s gone so we will be curious and learn more about this cause.

So, What is Invisible Children?

“We believe that there is inherent value in all human life, so we invest in a

generation of globally-minded youth who want to serve the human

community, across the street and around the globe.

CONTEXT

Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army have been abducting children

and committing atrocities in East and Central Africa since 1987. Kony was the

first person indicted by the International Criminal Court and he has repeatedly

abused peace talks to strengthen his forces.

MISSION

Invisible Children exists to bring a permanent end to LRA atrocities.”

HOW CAN WE HELP??

There are 2 main ways we can help

1) Donate HERE to help their cause.

2) Spread the word about Invisible Children to everyone you know. Knowledge is power!

This is a cause that I have felt very strongly about even pre-David.

It really tugs at my heart…and I feel blessed to be able to hug my 4 children every night

One Response to “FanScene’s Inspiring Tuesdays ~ Invisible Children”

  1. So sad about these children. I believe David was involved in this cause long before American Idol.
He is such a compassionate young man and helps us open our eyes.
