Recently, a very devoted fan who happens to be a close friend of mine pointed out a great passage that I wanted to share with everyone from Chords of Strength:
“…music can be so much more than entertainment. It can be an act of communion, a dialogue in sound, sacred or soulful, happy or sad, intense or soothing: it can cover the entire spectrum of human emotions. With music we can all speak the same language and we can relate to one another’s joys and pains…There is an emotional release that comes along with (or maybe leads to) a total state of purity. As a singer I feel it quite often, when I look out into the crowds, I can see when they feel it too.”
~pg 194
David’s music truly has touched us in many ways:
1) it uplifts our spirits when we are going through a rough time.
2) it touches us in ways we never knew music could
3) it helps us escape everyday life and enter into a sacred place that no one can touch.
4) it brings us together and connects us with other fans because they feel it too!
5) it’s the beginning of many friendships since the new friends we have met understand that same connection and emotion through David’s music.
There are many concerts of David’s where I have felt that sense of purity David talks about in his book, like a cleansing of the soul. I leave his concerts feeling like I can handle anything thrown at me. I have seen many fans leave his concerts, shedding a tear, feeling mixed emotions. They were touched but there is also a hint of sadness that its over..when will they feel that again?
David’s music also inspires us to pursue our own talents and dreams that maybe have been buried for a while. For example, I decided to make charity a huge part of my life. Many fans have shown us their talents through paintings, music, making quilts, baskets, photography and many more!
In the next 6 weeks, there will be lots of anticipation about David’s upcoming CD “BEGIN.”. We all can’t wait to feel that emotion and connection again through the power of music.
This is what David does best…and he left us with videos and new meaningful music that will touch our hearts many more times in the next 2 years.

Good Morning !
Wendy….thank you so much for your beautiful thoughts and reflections! I totally agree with each and every word! I loved hearing you talk about David in such a caring way. It is such a great way to begin my day!
The “purity” that David spoke about is almost hard to explain to anyone who has not experienced his heart and soul. However….it is undeniable. Everything that David says, sings and does….comes effortlessly because he lives his life in truth. We all feel through his music, and see in his life… that honesty. I think that is why his music is just so soothing and healing. There is an “emotional release” for David and all who are willing to look and listen. There is definitely a connection made…with David and each of the fans. For me….this doesn’t happen when I hear others sing. David is unique …not only because he has such a beautiful voice… but because his music reflects the beautiful person that he is! We feel it and we love it!
I think we all sometimes become very weary by the negative happenings in our world. It is a “breath of fresh air” to know someone who exudes that “purity of spirit “and inspires others to find their happy place by doing the same. We just want to repeat that experience over and over again! I have so much respect and admiration for David living his life ….always staying “real ” !
Thank you Maureen for the wonderful picture that went so well with the quote. Thank you again Wendy for highlighting that quote for us. I love it. It was fun to reflect on that once again.!
