I usually do a food post based on foods David loves or his food tweets. But I thought it would be fun this week to do a post based on the foods the FANS like and recipes that are a tradition in our own homes.

These recipes can be something related to your culture but it doesn’t have to be.

We all know David has talked about the tradition of funeral potatoes in his own home…

WHATS COOKIN’ AT YOUR HOME??

WHAT”S ON YOUR DINNER TABLE TONIGHT??

A new favorite recipe in our house is called

“Benihana Night”

We LOVE Hibachi and now we make our own!

All you need is zucchini, butter, lemon, soy sauce, white or brown rice, and lo mein noodles if desired. Then, pick the meat you want to cook, either chicken, shrimp, or beef.

You will need 2 large skillets and/or wok if you have one.

First, cook chicken or beef in a large skillet, saute with butter.

While that is cooking, saute zucchini in another  large skillet with butter and lemon.

After the chicken or beef is cooked through, combine all ingredients in a wok if you have one and add desired amount of soy sauce to your liking. Instead of soy, you can use teriyaki sauce and make it more like a stir fry.

If you do shrimp instead of chicken or beef, you can saute that with some lemon and butter just like the zucchini before adding to the wok. Shrimp cooks much faster so watch closely!

Add sesame seeds if desired and serve over rice or with lo mein noodles on the side.

ENJOY!!

This version is much cheaper than going out for hibachi and taste almost as good my kids tell me!!

Feel free to share a recipe that your family loves in the comments below!!

  2. Wow! Awesome timing in this food/recipe idea. I just restarted my cooking blog “Simply Yummy Recipes” by posting two of our family favorites, Mama’s Goulash and Shrimp and Pasta Salad. I’ll be adding more soon, including my son’s favorite, Shepard’s Pie.

    • Nice blog Margy! I am going to try out the Mama’s Goulash with the zuchinni twist, and add a little (well actually A LOT – lol) of paprika.

You can turn that blog into a book of traditional recipes versus the modified made simpler recipes. :D

      • We usually make ours more Mexican style (I mean, we do live in Texas) by adding my husband’s homemade secret-recipe salsa to it.

Glad you like the blog Doc. I’ll be adding some more stuff soon.
