David Archuleta is in town for a private acoustic showcase tonight, and we got a hold of the American Idol alumus to ask him a bunch of questions posed to him by you – the fans – via our @TODAYonline Twitter account.

Said “Archie”, 21: “I was excited to be able to come here before I left because I wasn’t able to come here last year. So it’s nice to be able to come back and see some of the fans, talk to them.”

Asked whether he had plans to release any songs ahead of his upcoming two-year mission stint at an undisclosed location – Archuleta is a devout Mormon – he said: ”I will record before I leave, and when I leave I’ll release that stuff so the fans have something.”

He added: “I’ll miss all you guys! Even though it’ll be for two years and it seems like a long time, the last two years flew by really fast for me. Two more years I know it will be new experiences I’ll gain, new things I’ll learn and I can’t wait to share with all of you guys.

“Thanks for the support you’ve been showing and I can’t wait to see you guys when I get back.”
