Manager’s edit – brought up from the comments
One of the missions of AFS has been to create memories that will last a life time and through the years we have tried to accomplish what we set out to do way back in the day. I have been personally involved with AFS since the early start of this millenium. Besides running a licensed internet radio station, I have also been involved in the field of Emergency Medical Services for almost 22 years.
I first came across David Archuleta and his talent for music in 2002. Back then I was involved in a project related to a website dedicated to Firefighters and the Medical Service in which we serve. For the home page I wanted to add some sort of music that would really highlight what firefighters stand for. During my search I came across David Archuleta’s video of him singing to a group of firefighters at Fire Station 54 in New York during the 1st anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. He sang “I will always love you”. That small gesture and kindness coming from an 11 year old really hit home. Firefighting is a brotherhood and when someone comes into our lives to appreciate and praise what we do, it is something we will never forget.
So in 2004 I joined forces with Todd (who operated the original and official David Archuleta Street Team) and made it my mission to help promote David’s music any way I can. When FHR Radio launched in 2005, David’s music was one of the first songs to hit the airwaves or the fiber optic cables in internet terms on my radio station. In 2008, at the start of David’s journey on American Idol, it was AI’s policy that all official websites of any contestant would need to be shut down. Instead Todd and I along with our friend Cheryl converted the Street Team and though Archuleta Fan Scene was born.
But let me remind everyone that our success throughout these past 3 years would not be possible without you “the fans”, the ones that keep the memories alive and continue to create new ones on a daily basis. It is you that give us the motivation and the enthusiasm to keep the dream alive. Because David does have the best fans in the world.
Of course, even with the help and support that the fans provide AFS, the one that truly makes everything possible is David Archuleta himself. His music has touched the hearts and soles of both young and old throughout the four corners of the world.
So I am proud to be able to support such a wonderful organization and to be able to do my part to help keep Todd’s dream alive, the dream of promoting and trying to bring David’s music into homes around the world.
For those that have been with us since the beginning, for those that have joined along the way and for those that make it their mission to support what we do here at AFS, we say Thank You from the bottom of our hearts and we truly love you today, tomorrow and for ever and ever.
One World, One Song, One David
On behalf of the entire AFS Team,
