The 10 Best Hollywood Week ‘Idol’ performances

I am of the opinion that “American Idol” is split into two categories every year — the freak parade (auditions) and the talent competition (everything after). And as is true each season, I only make “Idol” appointment viewing during this second stretch.
Thankfully, Hollywood Week kicks off tonight, promising the intentionally awful singers are gone and the unintentional awfulness begins. Forgotten lyrics, stage fright, all nighters that lead to verbal smackdowns — this is when “Idol” gets good!
But before we can actually meet the talented ones worth rooting for this year, let’s take a gander back at the contestants who made Hollywood their ***** in seasons past.
David Archuleta, “Heaven”
Simon Cowell didn’t care much for David Cook, but when time came to critique David Archuleta’s version of “Heaven,” the man with a million words was at a loss for most of them. Much like the backup singer who cries throughout the 16-year-old’s heartfelt performance.

Everything David sings is always TOPS for me. Personally “CRAZY” was a lot better than “Heaven”. He was playing an instrument and he changed the song – of course his voice was amazing as always.

I loved David’s performance of “Heaven!” Beautifully done. So easy to see all David’s talent. Watching this video again really shows how far David has come with his stage presence. goldstar(Quote)
Doc, I also want to see that video again very badly! After that performance, I was….. OMG!! The judges were speechless!! Unfortunately for everyone, we will never know if we will ever see that video again!! They were very quick on removing it. I wonder sometimes if they have a plan – who knows. china80(Quote)
