I stated out skeptical since I’ve never been a fan of pop renditions of Christmas music. So when I sat down to listen to “Christmas from the Heart” the new Christmas album by David Archuleta I was pleasantly surprised.
The first song “Joy to the world” began and the sound of the intro brought me back to the days of 90s pop (which I love) but it had a nice modern twist that I enjoyed as well and of course it showcased Archuleta’s strong vocals. Even though I was listening to it in October I was all ready for the Christmas spirit, I could almost smell the home baked cookies and see snow falling down. This put me in the mood for Christmas right away.
Some tracks that stood out were “Have yourself a Merry little Christmas” with Charice Pempengco, their vocals mesh very well and “Pat-a-pan” in which Archuleta starts the song off in French. My personal favorite was “Silent Night” Archuleta’s soothing vocals make it the perfect lullaby. Other tracks include many Christmas favorites such as “The first Noel”, “Angels We have Heard on High”, and “Ave Maria”.
Overall I would give the CD a B+ the songs and vocals were all done very well yet I wouldn’t recommend it to liven up your Christmas party. The songs more appropriate for a relaxing night with your family or if you want something to sooth you. I enjoyed listening to it and I think it some of the tracks will appear on my personal Christmas playlist in the near future.
Thank you Mirta!
Oh, and I agree with the reviewer that David’s CD is not right for a Christmas party. This CD is one that demands the listener’s full attention to fully experience it. I see that as a very, very good thing.

The reviewer is not a fan of pop renditions of Christmas music But a B+ was given because the songs were not recommended for Christmas party. What kind of review is that? Oh well, at least the reviewer seems to like the CD.

Deb, I too think it’s a very, very goo thing. David’s CD is not just another Christmas CD. It is one to enjoy with family and very close friends and think about the meaning of Christmas and the birth Jesus.

Exactly China! I think if you can just play a Christmas CD and have it there for background music, obviously you’re not being moved by it.
David’s is so exquisite that you want to hear every note, every breath he takes, be swept away by the beautiful orchestration, and FEEL the emotion that David infuses into every song.
Much as I love it, you can’t do that with “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.
But hey.. it’s a great song for parties. lol

I don’t know about B+ But David, Andrea Bocelli & Celtic woman’s [A Christmas celebration] CD are for me A+++ .Indeed The songs are so appropriate for a relaxing night with your family or if you want something to sooth you. The true meaning of Christmas resounds so much through out the whole tracks.Davids voice was made to sing Christmas tunes.
