God walks through His garden in the cool of the day

Sponsors make a big difference in the lives of the children of Rising Star Outreach. One of the most obvious examples of this is Kanmani Devan and his sponsor Judith. Judith began to sponsor Kanmani a little over a year ago after becoming aware of Rising Star Outreach due to an article posted on www.archuletafanscene.com (a fan site for singer David Archuleta. The people behind this site also spearheaded the charity website www.angelsforacause.org of which Judith is part of a broader fan community that has worked on past and current projects in support of Rising Star.)

Of her sponsorship Judith said, “It is impossible to express what I felt when I saw him hold a photo of me I sent in an email. The miles between us melted and he knows there is someone in California who cares about him and his family. Every picture and note we exchange is a thrill. It is a real honor to have a place in this child’s life.”

In July, Kanmani’s father unexpectedly passed away. Kanmani was heartbroken. When Judith received this news, she wrote Kanmani multiple times offering support and encouragement. In an immensely thoughtful gesture, Judith purchased a plant in memory of Kanmani’s father and planted it in her garden. In her letter to Kanmani, Judith said, “I wanted the plant to be big and have some flowers… a plant that will grow no matter if it rains or not. I think I found just the plant and I hope you like it. Everyday I will see it and think of you and also your father… I know this is a sad time for you and that you miss your father. But I also know you are a strong boy and you will do your best in school every day. Every day there will be a prayer in my heart for you. Be good and have fun with your friends too!”

The support that Judith offered was extremely beneficial to Kanmani during that trying time in his young life. It’s times like these, when sponsors reach out in such beautiful ways, that we see the importance of the sponsorship program.

    Judith: Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!:-)

Happy Thanksgiving, Judith from me and =^..^=!

Happy Thanksgiving, AFD, Mirta, Kizzie, Suzan, Diana and Kathleen. :)

  10. I am reminded of my Irish Grandmother’s beautiful hand embroidered saying framed and hung in her “front parlor:”

May we live in peace without weeping.
May our joy outline the lives we touch without ceasing.
And may our love fill the world, angel wings tenderly beating.

Your love fills the world, Judith.

Happy Thanksgiving All – May the deep peace of the Infinite Peace be with you this holiday season!

  11. Judith,

It is a joy to see you with your “son.” As I said last night, the song between Lupe and David touched anyone who has loved a son, and your “son” is with you, even though he is far away. To find someone who needs you and that you can love and nurture is a wonderful gift.

  12. Thank you Kizzi and CPK….your words touch me so very much.

Kizzi I am half Irish and I love your Grandmother’s saying. No wonder you are such a great writer…you have Irish blood!

And CPK….you know my story and I know we share a love for our dear sons near and far. Bless you!

  13. Judith my friend… You are such a wonderful, caring and loving person. This extra mile and exemplary effort really makes a difference for Kanmani. May the lights will continue to shine on dear Kanmani and you be blessed, always.
    Take care :o )

  14. Judith you are just awesome. It is terrific to read this and know what a difference you are making in Kanmani’s life. I loved reading this.
