Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – David Archuleta is currently on tour promoting his new Christmas album, “Christmas from the Heart,” and he got a little help from family. His mother Lupe joined him on stage for a duet.

During Tuesday night’s show, Archuleta brought out his mom for the song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” A video, now available on YouTube, shows that Archuleta’s vocal chops run in the family. She even planted a kiss on the cheek when they hit the stage.

The performance left Archuleta’s mother emotional, nearly in tears by the end. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” appears on his album as a duet with Charice Pempengco.

“Christmas From the Heart” also includes the American Idol runner-up’s renditions of classics like “Joy to the World,” “O Holy Night,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” The disc’s sole original track, “Melodies of Christmas,” was co-written by Archuleta.

David Archuleta’s Winter tour continues on through December 20th when it wraps up at the Capital One Bank Theater in Westbury, NY.

  1. Not only Did David get his vocals chops from his mum but they have the same mannerism when they sing and they both breathe almost at the same time.it was such a beautiful duet and i can understand why she almost broke down.who won’t be proud of such a talented young man.

  2. I have to say the Mom & Son Duet was so FaNtAsTiC as a fan to hear and see. It has so many elements – family, love, Christmas, dancing, kissing, hugging, friendship, melting with love eye contact (Mom and Son that is ;D ), oh, and I almost forgot, great vocals but it has taken me a couple of listens to really hear the vocals. And the duet is getting so much buzz in the cyber-media.

    And I just have to wonder if we got a little of what Christmas at David & Lupe’s family home is/was like every year. Just wondering as I recall David’s description of family holiday’s in his MTV interviews with Jim Cantiello.

    Last night’s duet was gorgeous. It was the first video I watched this morning. There aren’t any more words in the universe of languages to describe it.

  3. That was such a heart warming moment!! They must have been so emotional that night. Nothing could be better for a child and especially a mother to share a moment like that with your son. I believe everyone cried at this performance.

    Yes, this duet has created a big buzz and I am so happy for that. Lupe does have a beautiful voice. Singing runs deep on that side of David’s family. I hope she can do more shows with David.
