Eeny, meeny, miny, moe – To Which Fan Site(s) Shall I Go?!!

Hmmm...which one should I choose? PS - This is a fansite map of sometime in the future
There are a plethora of fan sites and an official one for David Archuleta. One or two fan-run sites existed prior to David’s American Idol season, like David Archuleta Fan Scene. Most have sprung up during AI or since then.
David’s Official Site is stylish. It subtlely and tastefully markets his music and merchandise. It appears to be a teen & twenty-something cool design. I’m not prone to leave comments though.
Nearly all of us frequent the fan site(s) that we identify with the most. In fact one of the reasons, according to social psychologists, that we diehard fans seek a fan website is so that we can find a group that we connect with in core values and subsequently the sharing of like fan experiences and feelings. “I’m OK, You’re OK,“ is sooooooo right!
Each fan site offers something different. We diehard fans literally have a smorgasbord of treats to choose from. The international sites are gorgeous and I love browsing through them just to see if I can pick up words in different languages. (Eek, what a geek, eh?)
Just imagine the “new” David music fan exploring the web.
The new fan can, of course, go to the official site. If they Google “David Archuleta ‘fan site’” they have over a million links to explore and over 4 million links if they just Google “David Archuleta.”
And, as we lurk or participate in fan sites, we become familiar with the style and tone and boundaries of each. We zero in on personalities and characters.
I bet we each have Screen Names that we recognize and follow (or, LOL, maybe avoid) on fan sites. Then, bingo, it just happens and we connect with one or perhaps more fan sites. We have found our very own comfy fan home(s).
From an Existentialist perspective, all the fan sites are meant to be. Everything has an ebb and flow and the experience of that ebb and flow is as timeless as life itself.
There are 4 fan sites I visit daily. One for the latest breaking news, two for the commentary from fans I have met either at concerts or through the commentary whom I am connected to, and the last one for the connection and sharing. And, it is those that I am connected to and the connection and sharing that is, personally, of the highest value.
Primarily, I have a great sense of joy and gratitude to these different sites. Oh, for sure, I don’t always appreciate or agree with what I read from time to time. And, I can get caught up in the moment and have learned much from that and mostly in the “what not to do” category…old dogs can, indeed, learn new tricks.
What I do like, though, is that reading other’s perspectives allows me to examine what I think in a different light and often expands my appreciation and deepens my enjoyment of this fan journey. Looking at the 360 perspective is quite illuminating.
One of the most powerful things I learned from a David fan was her sharing of a few words from Maya Angelou’s Don’t Break the Elastic…“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
For sure, part of this wonderful experience is to see through others eyes, to walk in someone else’s shoes. That adds so much as it makes me realize how David’s music impacts each individual differently and that we are motivated to express our individual fan-cination via various avenues due to those very differences.
So, take a moment please, and tell me a little about yourself and why you frequent David Archuleta Fan Scene. I would love to get to see through your eyes, walk, if just for a brief moment, along side you, on this David Fan Journey.

Very interesting post! Hmm.. I think I’m in the minority here when I say that I don’t identify most with any ONE fansite. I think it’s more that I adapt to wherever I happen to be! lol Meaning, I will make a comment on Snarky’s that I will never make at TDC, you know? And most of the time, I’m fairly comfortable at all of them, depending on the day/topic.
I enjoy Fan Scene very much. Being a writer here is great because I can share my thoughts, feelings, and lots of info. with other David fans. Plus I really like the different personalities here- there is no “type” of fan here at Fan Scene. It feels very diverse to me, which I enjoy as well.

Judith here…AFS from a purely visual standpoint is a knockout… Everything looks classy on here. The content has for me always been top notch…not just David news but insight and humor and warmth all in one location. This place is safe for everyone and yet more fun than should be legal.
It is the place I found Rising Star Outreach..and Squiggly pig…and pictures of David as a young boy…and some amazing friends who write, comment, chat and lurk here. For me…it is HOME. It is the fan site that has a history and a bright future.

Like some of you here I started somewhere else, googled and lurked, but never called anything home until FAN SCENE. Just the visual alone was a winner for me and add to that the ease in which you can navigate throughout the site. I’m not a teen so I need all the help I can get. Plus I have no time to be figuring out a site.
The content was another winning factor for me. Everything is classy, respectfull to David, his family and most of all his fans. I’ve learned quite a lot since I’ve been here from downloading software, videos and music. I’ve also learned about all the wonderful charities we’ve been able to get involved in and help those who are dire need.
Of course the icing on the cake for me has been the AWESOME friendships I have made along the way. I have made friends that will last a life time – true and honest friends. I know it’s only been just a under 2 years, but they have been with me through fun times and now some rough times. Even though it’s rough right now, I have to say it has been very rewarding.
To me FAN SCENE is it, it’s HOME!! Thank the Lord and everyone involved with FAN SCENE!! I don’t want to mention any names because I don’t want to omit anyone and hurt anybody’s feelings, but you know who you are!!

Some of us have had the opportunity to get to know David prior to American Idol. We have had the opportunity to share his music, thoughts and friendship for many years prior. Just like Todd who created Fan Scene, I have known about David for several years going back to 2002. I believe each fan site brings his or her own style and each one is unique in what they do. I also believe in working together as a team in a world united to share a common goal, “Help promote David and his Music”.
Hi All, many of you know me as Orlando, others know me as FHR. Besides being an Admin here at Fan Scene, I am also general manager for FHR Radio Entertainment, a fully licensed online radio station that plays today’s top country and pop music which includes David’s music.
Being in the field of firefighting and emergency medical services for many years, back in 2002 I was creating a website dedicated to the events of Sept 11, 2001. While creating the site, I was looking for music that would go along with the theme and while using good ole Google I came across a video of David singing God Bless America at Fire Station 54 in Manhattan in honor of Sept 11 and he was just 11 years old. That touch of kindness and dedication that young child portrayed to those firefighters and their families really hit home and to this day I have been a dedicated Archuleta fan and will do everything in my power to promote his music.
They say music is the universal language of mankind, David is the universal language of the world.
So now you know how I got here and what has encouraged me to stick around for so many years.
Through sites such as Fan Scene I have gotten to know many great people and fans from all walks of life. It’s like your one stop shopping for everything you ever wanted to know about David. lol
Together we can make a world of difference

Kizzi – To me, Fan Scene is the one & only site for David news! I love this site, was devistated when it went down & so very thankful for it.So very happy to see it is up & running again!! God bless Todd & the staff of AFS! You guys do such a great job in reporting David news & keeping us informed of his comings & goings. This is the only site I use & I think it’s the best. It’s easy to navigate & most importantly, current on David affairs. I connect with AFS every few hours to catch new happenings & events. I agree with everyone else, IT’S HOME!!!

I go to several fan sites to read news and to look for my obsession – PICTURES – but I always return to FAN SCENE because I feel it’s like and old friend here! You can come and go as your time allows you and nobody nags you for not comment every day
I really like the way the site is run – it’s very easy to navigate and that means a lot if you’re busy but wants the latest news so thumbe up to Todd and his amazing crew!!
I love the positive spirit here and especially the friends I’ve met as well!! A thousand miles apart doesn’t mean anything here!!!

I could hardly understand what it translated to Danish LOL! So I’ll stay with the English

Thanks for your input, Hanne. That’s very important to us as we’re tweaking our new features. I’m very curious to know how the Spanish and Filipino languages are translating. Also, as you can see, we can now reply to and quote each other’s comments which makes things easier. There’s also a new “star” rating feature which allows us to see which type of posts are most appealing to our readers so we have a better idea of which direction we should go as far as content. Orlando fixed the registration form so users can now register and log in via the same form. If you go to your dashboard you can now send PM’s to other registered Fan Scene users. I love Fan Scene cause it’s personal, ya know? It’s not ALL ‘David did this, David did that’ (Yes, it DOES have that, which is the reason we’re all here, right?) But it also just has random posts like this one! And that just makes it more fun! Like, you really ‘get’ these people here because they think like you and you can see how your relate to other huge David fans. (That part is really cool for me… I don’t know anyone who loves David like me, so it’s cool to ‘meet’ other fans via fansites.)

I come to Fan Scene everyday and always feel that it is a “fresh” site and not bogged down with personal issues and conflicts. The commentaries are interesting and I like the way people make their sincere comments. Thanks for keeping it going.

Aww this is a cute post. Even though I have been a part of commenting on Fan Scene for a couple months now I love it here. Like Deb said I have something I love about each fansite. Like on Snarkies I let my natural teenage instincts come out and on TDC I comment with wise thoughtful words and here Im just whatever. I love it here because of the warmth and great people you have here, Every post is respectful to both fans and David and I love it here. To tell you the truth this is my favorite David Fansite.

One of the sites not mentioned on your sideboard is The Golden Archies. We are a forum for fans ages 35 and over to converse about David and what is happening with him. We are NOT a blog site but a forum, where many different topics are discussed on a daily basis. What makes us unique is our mature point of view. We hope other fans of this age will come to join us.
