'Xmas' is a very old term derived from the Greek alphabet. The word "Christ" has been abbreviated in English for a thousand years; as far back as AD 1021, "Christ" was often written with the Greek letters X (chi) and P (rho) fused together. X (symbol for Christ, from the Greek letter chi (X), initial of Christos Christ) + -mas (in Christmas).

So, the abbreviation doesn't bother me. It's just a throw-back to an old language. But whenever I see the word 'Xmas,' I don't pronounce the X as 'eks-məs,' but read it 'kris-məs.' In formal writing, the word "Christmas" should be spelled out. ;-)

Sweet, David. Your heart and your mind are in the right place. Giving credit and dedication to God and His son remind us that if you put God first, "... everything else will be given to you."

Thank you Andrea for reminding us. It's so easy for everyone to do this even though it's not intentional, but it DOES make a difference.

It is "CHRISTMAS FROM THE HEART"!!
