What are your favorite David Archuleta songs from American Idol?

So we all have songs that we love that David Archuleta sang on American Idol. At one point that was the only David music we got until his album came out last year. My favorite would have to be, “Stand by me.” I literally got shivers down my spine (Danny Gokey should have never touched it after David!) Next would probably be “Another Day In Paradise.” It was the first time I’d ever heard him singing (he was singing an 80’s song! 8D) and I was like wow he’s a good singer and he’s cute but I’m not going to say anything – and ironically now he’s all I ever talk about! I also liked “Shop Around.” It’s an upbeat song and I’m always joking with my brother to pick the right girl and shop around. Next on my list is “Think of Me.” I just love how he sang it and I’m a theatre child, so I was thrilled to see he picked Phantom of the Opera (though I wish he did his witch rap from ‘into the woods’!) Last on my list is “Heaven.” I used to always sing this song, and you know you can never go back to the originals after hearing David’s! My question this week for you guys is: What are your favorite David Archuleta American Idol songs?

  1. Great post Andrea! Hmm… David really caught my attention at Shop Around, but I don’t know if I can choose that over Smoky Mountain Memories… SMM is kind of burned into my soul at this point. So many beautiful performances and great memories.

  3. I became a fan right after I heard ‘Heaven’…but I think my favorite performances are either When You Believe or Smoky Mountain Memories :)

  4. Talk about tough choices! Since I was actually young during the 50/60’s, I have to choose The Long and Winding Road. However, when he sang Shop Around, I was hooked. Come to think of it, I was “young” when several of these songs hit the music scene. Hmmmm

  11. While I absolutely enjoyed every one of David’s performances, one song that I’ve always loved is “The Long and Winding Road” and I thought that David did a spectacular job when he sang it. As a matter of fact, I listened to him sing it via You Tube just this morning because I enjoy it so much!!! I also love the song that David chose to sing on the last night of the actual competition – “In This Moment” (I had tears in my eyes as he sang it). When he sings a ballad, my heart just melts – he’s just that awesome!!!

  12. I have LOVED David from the very first time they put him on TV. I LOVED his looks, his talking voice, his manerisms, his googy self and of course his GLORIOUS voice!!

    It is so hard to just pick one song because as we all know he can sing “Mary Had A Little Lamb” and he would make it a classic!!

    I LOVE THEM ALL and still listen to them every day, but some of my favorites are:

    IN THIS MOMENT – Defining moment and icing on the cake next to IMAGINE
    CRAZY – That was TOTALLY Crazy – couldn’t even get it on YouTube
    LOVE ME TENDER – Breath taking!!
    IMAGINE – Oh My Gosh!!

  15. The last night was the best and I still can’t believe he didn’t win after that. People must have been so sure he won that they didn’t bother calling in. But in addition to KDLTSGDOM, Imagine, and In this Moment, I liked Longer, Long and Winding RToad, Stand By Me, Smokey Mountain Memories, Heaven, Crazy, Sweet Caroline, oops, did I accidently name them all? I play my CD of these songs everyday……actually like them better than his album because they are the songs David should be recording. He’ll have to go a long way to do better than Contigo en La Distancia. Although I’m expecting there might be something wonderful on that Christmas album.

  16. The first time I heard David sing, was on YouTube because the AI show was 6 weeks delayed here in Denmark, so the auditions were still giong on. But I was told that there was this very young guy that had the most fantastic voice, so I thought I’d better check him out. I found the youngest guy (I thought) on AI and went to YouTube to listen to him singing “Superstar”. And I have to tell I was a little disappointed – well a LOT actually and didn’t quite understand what all the fuss was about!! He wasn’t that good – not to me anyway!

    For some reason I went back to AI’s homepage and looked at the other contestants – and then suddenly I found this guy from Utah – and he was only 17!! Had I made a mistake?? Back to YouTube to look for videos with David Archuleta. I found IMAGINE and my first thought was …oh no – this can not be good, IMAGINE is untouchable, how could he choose that song. It could only go wrong!!! BUT……It was me that was wrong!! I was totally spellbound for the next hour when listening over and over to David singing Imagine – I couldn’t believe what I heard! I couldn’t believe he was for real!! What a voice – well you all know LOL!

    So Imagine is absolutely my favorite song from American Idol – even though I love most of the songs he performed. If I have to name another song it will be THINK OF ME – I really love the arrangement! And sometimes I still can’t believe what I hear when he is singing, I’m don’t understand that he is capable of singing like he does – wow, and I’m still spellbound and probably will be forever! If he is named after King David I understand!!

  17. When I heard David sing Heaven I was sold…. It was amazing, I told my husband, this is the winner, And yes he was/is my winner. Have you ever noticed the woman in in background, she is wiping tears away :-) Awww me too…. And “When you belive” and “In this moment” is my favorite too, and Imagine and……. ;-)
