Marc’s Sunrise, Florida VIP Experience Recap

We were lead into the VIP room by the lovely Kristin, there were quite a few teens & tweens, and they were seated on the floor in front of the piano. I’d say maybe there were 30 adults? I could be off base but it wasn’t crowded and I was very close, I had nothing to complain about. So someone came up with the idea that when David walks in the room, we should sing Happy Anniversary to Crush…uh yeah. Well, I’ve never sang Happy Anniversary to a song before but for big D I figured, oh what the heck!

So Kristin told us that she would get a 3 or 4 minute notice before David would enter the room. A little while after she tells us that with no notice at all who bounds into the room but big D! Everyone was shocked and started to sing Happy Anniversary to Crush a little haphazardly. He plops himself down at the piano and says “wow yeah, it’s a year since Crush, thanks guys!

Now I have to tell you David was a real space cadet tonight and told us as much, or as he puts it “I’m loopy in the brain” So he’s sitting at the piano just looking at us and then sniffs and makes a face and says…”I smell chocolate” I pipe up and say that’s because there’s a chocolate fountain in the back and he says “oh, there’s food, what do they have?” So I said there is chicken & hotdogs and…he interrupts me and says with his eyes brightened, “are they chicken hotdogs?” As I start telling him no, it’s chicken AND hotdogs he picks himself up and walks over and starts to eat! It was pretty funny watching everybody watch him go over and check out the spread! He took a couple bites of chicken and went back to the piano and when he finished chomping away he blurts out…I LIKE FOOD…YESSSSS (that YES is me!)! I said so do I!

Now David says nonchalantly, I’m going to sing Heaven and Crazy, which would you like to hear first? A couple of the kids in front said Heaven and he says OK…He started singing and what can I tell you…David’s voice just fills you up. It is so unbelievable up close and personal like that, even though he stopped a couple of time to find the right key it didn’t matter, David’s imperfections are perfect. I’m telling you that voice just reverberates and spellbinds you. He finished Heaven and said; now I’ll sing Crazy. He starts to sing and you could hear a pin drop in the room as everyone was listening so intently when right in the middle of the song he stops, looks at one of the kids sitting in front of him and asks “what are you doing?” David is ALWAYS nice, but you could tell he was annoyed; everyone was a little shocked because he stopped the song so abruptly. The he starts softly singing “who do you think you are!” Well this teen was doing something with her phone like cell casting which is a big no no at the VIP. Kristin later told me that David, knowing that people paid a lot of money to attend the VIP, wants it to be special and not be on YouTube.

So David recoups and starts Crazy all over again…WOW, just incredible…astounding! When he’s done he says, OK, now I guess we’ll do the questions but then he looks down at the piano and starts playing and says something like, well since you sang Happy Anniversary to Crush maybe I should sing it! Well I didn’t hear a single no from the crowd and he starts to sing Crush…way cool! He didn’t sing the entire song but it was cool to have a song at the VIP that was just for us, well at least up to that point! When he was done singing Crush he started playing with the piano again and said I’m learning a new song, can you guess what it is, and I think someone said “Maybe I’m Amazed”? He goes YEAH but he didn’t sing the song dang it!

Now came the raffle questions…the first question was, who would you like to tour with? A couple of people called out Jordin Sparks and he said he would like to but the artist he would really like to tour with is Natasha Bedingfield. The second question was, are there any pranks that go on between you and Demi Lovato on the tour? In the straightest face someone could have, he said “I don’t play pranks” Then the same girl asked if any pranks are played on him and he said yes, ummm Demi Lovato tried to throw meat at me, the he pauses and says again in a straight face…”turkey luncheon meat” Someone said I heard you were afraid and he said, well I didn’t expect meat to be thrown at me. Now I have to say if you weren’t there you do not get the full benefit of his deadpan response. It is very comical without him trying to be, if David couldn’t sing he could definitely be a comedian! It was really an AWESOME experience, one I truly feel fortunate to have been able to attend.
