David Archuleta Christmas Album
It may only be the second week of June but the promise of a Merry Christmas is already here.
Ever since David Archuleta recorded his demo of “O Holy Night” back in December 2003, fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of his first Christmas album.
Fan Scene was allowed a sneak “peek” into Santa’s workshop to see what might lie in store for all the good little boys and girls this holiday season.
While most of the presents are still under wraps, Santa told us that “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night” will both be making the CD!
“Mary Did You Know” and “The Christmas Song” probably won’t make the cut at this point, but the elves are still working on song selection so it may be a month or so before they are sure which songs are the best mix.
In the meanwhile, they’d like to hear what songs YOU would like to hear on the David Archuleta Christmas Album. Please leave your suggestions in the comment section below!

Todd, it is so nice to see you posting again
Welcome back!
Thank you and Santa for the update! I know David’s Christmas album is going to be BEAUTIFUL!! it’s going to be a great Christmas present for our relatives and friends, not matter which songs are included.
A Christmas song in Spanish would be an awesome gift for me and for all the Latin/Hispanic fans
Por favor y gracias!

I’d love to hear David sing a Spanish song. Also, I must say that his version of The Christmas song he sang at one of his shows last year was fantastic. Outside of Nat King Cole’s, I can’t think of another version of that song I like more. I’d love for it to be on the album.

A medianoche se oyó
(It Came Upon the Midnight Clear)
A medianoche se oyó aquel dulce refrán
de ángeles que en unión las gratas nuevas dan:
“La paz y buena voluntad del gran Rey celestial”.
El mundo en quietud oyó el son angelical.
En gloria vedlos descender, los ángeles de Dios;

David’s original version of “O Holy Night” from 2003. Much better than the 2008 version, no offense. Pretty please. I know the range is wider, but I know he can do it, and it’s the more moving version of the two IMHO.

All the Christmas carols i know have been suggested…but i would like for David to do any of the suggested songs ACAPELLA STYLE..because that’s where the purity of his voice comes in..not “adulterated” with background music..This Christmas album would be the best Christmas gift David could give to his fans. I’m so looking forward to its release. This news makes Christmas come early in June…

And since David is part Basque, I think the Basque carol nameed (in English) “Gabriel’s Message” might be nice.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8jw-ifqwkM
Happy Xmas (War is over)
John Lennon
so this is Christmas
and what have you done
another year over
a new one just begun
and so this is Christmas
i hope you have fun
the near and the dear ones
the old and the young
a very merry Christmas
and a happy new year
let’s hope it’s a good one
without any fear
and so this is Christmas (war is over…)
for weak and for strong (…if you want it)
the rich and the poor ones
the road is so long
and so happy Christmas
for black and for white
for the yellow and red ones
let’s all stop the fight (2x)
a very merry Christmas
and a happy new year
lets hope it’s a good one
without any fear
so this is Christmas
and what have you done
war is over – if you want it
war is over – if you want it
war is over – if you want it

I would like to see David collaborate with Utah musicians Kurt Bestor (Prayer of the Children) and Michael McLean (The Forgotten Carols). I just melt into a puddle of tears imagining David’s gorgeous voice singing The Innkeeper, The Shepherd or Joseph (I Was Not His Father, He Was Mine) from The Forgotten Carols.

Can I vote for Light A Candle again? The words have such a message…oh and David’s voice gaaah
Light A Candle – Avalon lyrics
light a candle
for the old man who sits staring
out a frosty windowpane
light a candle
for the woman who is lonely
and every Christmas is the same
for the children who need
more than presents can bring
light a candle
light the dark
light the world
light a heart or two
light a candle for me
I’ll light a candle for you
light a candle
for the homeless and the hungry
a little shelter from the cold
light a candle
for the broken and forgotten
may the season warm their souls
can we open our eyes
to shine through the dark
light a candle
light the dark
light the world
light a heart or two
light a candle for me
I’ll light a candle for you
and in this special time of year
may peace on earth surround us here
and teach us there’s a better way to live
and with every (every) flame that burns
we must somehow learn
that love’s the greatest gift
that we could ever give…..
light a candle
light the dark
(light the world)
light the world
(light a heart or two)
light a heart or two
light a candle for me
i’ll light a candle for you
light a candle (oh yea)
light the dark (everybody needs a light)
light the world
light a heart or two
light a candle for me )
I’ll light a candle for you
light candle for me
I’ll light a candle for you
light a candle for me
I’ll light a candle for you

All of the above! Plus “Let there be Peace on Earth”. I would like “Mary, Did you Know?” Had never heard that until David. The final song should be “Adeste Fideles” with the first verse in Latin. Christmas is joyful, but also solemn. It’s got to be a 2-CD collection.

This Christmas we will all be ‘joyfully solemn’ and ’solemnly joyful’ with whatever Christmas album David produces. His voice is a natural for carols, hymns, and inspirational songs, and then he adds that special bluesy groove he has going on in spades and turns them into vocal masterpieces.

Awesome suggestions guys. TOTALLY AGREE WITH A TWO DISC ALBUM! Personally, I would love for David to sing:
- The First Noel
- Happy XMas or Have Yourself A Merry Christmas (The War Is Over) duet with David Cook. [Can you imagine? It would be so awesome with their voices blending together!]
- It came Upon A Midnight Clear in Spanish.
- What Child Is This (though it will be hard to top the Josh Groban version, ngl)
- Gabriel’s Message [a beautiful, beautiful song that is one of the lesser known songs that David would just… wow)
- How Great Thou Art

There’s so many good Christmas songs! I would love to hear David record:
1. Believe (from The Polar Express)
2. Have Yourself A Merry Litte Christmas (from one of the best musicals ever, Meet Me in St. Louis)
3. anything in Spanish!
4. Joyful, Joyful (too bad we can’t see the full version he did of this as a young boy)
5. Silent Night
6. Do You Hear What I Hear?
7. The Christmas Song (only Nat King Cole can do it better than David–and even that’s up in the air)
8. Santa Baby (why not?)
9. Mary, Did You Know?
10. Blue Christmas
11. Silent Night
12. Ave Maria (not really Christmas but okay anyway)
13. White Christmas
14. I’ll Be Home for Christmas
To be honest, I don’t care what David has on the CD, I’d buy it even if I didn’t like any of the songs because he’s got the best voice in the world! I can’t wait to buy his CD and hope that Jive publicizes it enough to the point where the rest of the world will finally catch on to David Archuleta’s talent!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9KpNznVLlY
“Peace on Earth, can it be
Years from now, perhaps we’ll see
See the day of glory
See the day, when men of good will
Live in peace, live in peace again
Peace on Earth, can it be
Every child must be made aware
Every child must be made to care
Care enough for his fellow man
To give all the love that he can
I pray my wish will come true
For my child and your child too
He’ll see the day of glory
See the day when men of good will
Live in peace, live in peace again
Peace on Earth, can it be
Can it be…”
WOW! so many songs! in Spanish, A Capella… David will make a Christmas album every year for many years to come. I hope to hear his own Christmas/holiday songs very soon too.

I suppose that there are reasons that they’ve decided that “Mary, Did You Know?” probably won’t be included on the album, but I think that it would be an absolutely wonderful choice for the CD. The video clip of David singing part of that song with the Osmonds group last year is one of my all-time favorites. It is just so beautiful and sung with so much feeling. Sigh…
I think that I’d be happy with most Christmas songs, but the traditional ones are my favorites. A few of my first suggestions would be “Away in a Manger”, “I Wonder as I Wander”, “Do You Hear What I Hear?”, and “What Child is This?”
I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to listen to David’s Christmas album!

I Saw Three Ships (On Christmas Day, in the Morning) ANY duet with the Roches!
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
Auld Lang Syne
Ave Maria
In doing this kind of album, many arrangements and styles, which aren’t readily accepted in pop albums, especially jazz- and folk-influenced, are possible!
Hire someone who knows how to write for strings, like the great arrangements by Paul Weston for the “American Folk Songs” album by Jo Stafford. The album contains songs which might fit into a Christmas album format, although not Christmas songs, such as “I Wonder as I Wander”. The main thing is the sound of those incredible string and reed arrangements and the wonderful playing.
Where Have All The Flowers Gone
Imagine
Marshmallow World
Sleigh Ride
Toyland
Jingle Bell Rock
The Christmas Song
Winter Wonderland
Santa Claus is coming to Town
What are you Doing New Years?

I will love what ever is on the CD. Anthing that David will sing will be just beautiful/ I would love to have him put When You Say You Love Me on a Cd. I think it could be on the Christams one, the word are just so nice. I hope that he and Mike can come up with a new song that will become a classic Christmas song. Guess we will just have to wait and see. So excited about it!!!!! And we get to see him soon in concert again Yippee!!

I think that “Mary Did you Know” should be on the album, though it is more of an Easter song. I personally think that they need to give him songs that are going to showcase his voice more, that’s what we liked him for in the first place right? I personally am looking forward to getting the album just because I know he can really knock the songs out of the park. Also Jive…. please keep it traditional, please don’t add anything to the songs that will make it seem that Santa is going to be at a rave or something.

I would love for them to change their mind and put Mary Did You Know on the CD. This Christmas, Let It Snow, Do You See What I See, and Sleigh Ride too. Lastly, I don’t know how it would turn out, but I love All I Want For Christmas Is You. I think he could make it his own. I absolutly love Christmas music, so no matter what is on it I know I’ll love it!
