At David’s concert in New York the other day, there was a very special guest! Rickey from Rickey.org attended the concert and had a great time! Rickey does alot of work on publishing the latest news on American Idol and David! He really deserved to meet David, and you can tell how grateful he was in his story.

So on the first year anniversary of when most of the NYC Angels met each other — I finally get to talk to David Archuleta for a few moments and get a picture. How… poetic.

Did my life change? No, not really. But it did offer me some points for reflection.

Dadchuleta asked me how the blog was doing and I told him that it was doing great. Jeff has been very nice to me over the past year, and he has been managing his son’s career well — even if his critics once said that he will burn David’s career to the ground after Idol. I did sense that he has mellowed a bit, perhaps a bit wiser after one year in the music industry.I just remembered how some David fans last year swore off Rickey.org for one reason or another. Most of the David fans that frequented this site daily have moved on to SnarkyArchies, Fans of David and NotingDavid. They even do their own cellcasts now. Rickey.org will always be the unofficial home of the “NYC Angels” (and honorary “NYC Angels”) and I try to get as much David news as I can. But I’ve thrived even without their daily visits and comments, which makes me feel confident about my own abilities as the American Idol superfan. Fans come and go, but Rickey will always be here.

The concert last Thursday was actually quite good. It was held at the new PC Richards & Son ‘theater’ which really was a big room with a stage. It’s a nice venue for album launchings I think and very intimate. Loonyluna (not her real name) lined up for me early, and that got us and the rest of the NYC Angels front row. Learning from my experience in Sayerville, I stayed to the side, because having a hundred girls screaming behind me (with an occasional grandmother or five) is traumatizing.

The highlights: touching David’s hand in “Touch my Hand”. So he held out his hand, and we all touched it… for like a long time. David also serenaded Loonyluna (not her real name) in the front row. I think that is what made me happiest that night: seeing Loony and the rest of the Angels just go bonkers. It really felt like we were having a private concert. He was singing just for us in the front row. Good stuff. The Q&A with Z100 was also a treat. I loved it when David talked about how he “loves lettuce”.

After the show, we tried to see if we could get a picture with David. We were worried that it may not happen, but it turned out good in the end as everyone who stayed got a chance to get a picture with him — but outside the theater on the sidewalk in the drizzling rain.

Josh finally got his picture with David. And so did I. I had him sign a Sexy Face paddle… and David said: Is that Kris? (!) I told him I was Rickey, and he said it was nice to see me and asked if I lived in New York. He hoped I enjoyed the show.

So I watched a concert with fans who enjoyed my company and talked to Jeff again. I waited patiently for one year and met David Archuleta. It felt so peaceful compared to the frantic rush of last year. That’s probably how it should be.
