The music of Les Miserables continues to coax huge talent from unassuming characters. Case in point: 47 Year old Susan Boyle who recently walked onto the stage of Britain’s Got Talent amidst sneers and snickers from an already prejudiced audience.

Boyle said in her pre-performance interview that she had never been kissed, lives alone with her cat, Pebbles, and is teased in the streets by the children of her village of Blackburn, West Lothian.

At first Boyle’s audience appeared no more compassionate than the children of her village, as they laughed and rolled their eyes when Ms. Boyle gyrated her hips and announced she’d always wanted to be a famous singer like Elaine Paige.

The harsh welcome didn’t seem to faze Boyle who confidently raised her microphone and sang “I dreamed a dream.”

How did the audience react after her performance? See for yourself.

  3. I am so glad that the Susan Boyle story has hit America. My friend in England told me about her and so I looked on YouTube and found her stunning performance. I have to say…I had a good cry when that audience started to give her a standing ovation just a few bars into the song.

Susan spent her life taking care of her mother who passed away 2 years ago at the age of 91…she was so sad at the loss of her mother she stopped singing. Before that she sang in her church…her mother had told her she should try out for the show one day. What a great story!

And is it me or does Simon look younger and seem more relaxed?

  7. So touching. Isn’t David memorized all the songs in Les Miserables? One day David and Susan can duet.
