‘Idol’ runner-up Archuleta tops charts with debut album

Anyone remotely familiar with Fox’s ratings powerhouse “American Idol” knows that British music executive Simon Cowell makes most contestant quake in fear. He has no qualms about telling a singer to hire a lawyer and sue her vocal coach and calls performances “atrocious” and “dreadful” without hesitation.
Even as an avid fan of “Idol,” I can count on my fingers and toes the number of times Cowell has given positive feedback during his six-year reign on the show. David Archuleta, whose self-titled debut album “David Archuleta” (2008) was released on Nov. 11th, evoked rare praise from Cowell during “Idol’s” seventh season: “You have so many things going for you,” Cowell said. “You’re young, you’re good looking, you’re likable, and you’ve got a great voice. That’s not a bad place to be, is it?”
Archuleta wowed Cowell and his fellow judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson with his rendition of Bryan Adams’ “Heaven” during “Idol’s” Hollywood Week auditions, when the show’s 24 contestants were chosen from the winners of regional audition rounds.

This is a great review! It’s very positive and actually about the merits of Davids album and his artistry. David deserves reviews like this one, which actually concentrates on his music and talent. Congratulations David!

Thanks for finding this great review. It is always interesting to read what critics think of the album as a whole and then what songs they prefer. David probably hasn’t read many if any of the reviews. But for his fans it is a joy to see him be recognized so positively.

Hi everyone, just stopping by to say how happy and proud I am of David. What a great start for his debut Album #2 with 183K sold in one week and that’s in the US only, I wonder how many he sold worldwide? I love the reviews, David taking converting them one at a time. GO DAVID!

I love!!!! his new c.d. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate the absolute perfection in every single song on it!!! His voice and talent are “Like a breath of fresh air” that lift my spirit and soothe my soul……I cannot wait for his next one and to see him in concert someday. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this kind of joy from listening to someone sing ever before in my life…his love for family, friends and GOD shines through….there is a purity about him that makes me feel brand new…Blessings to him and his family….Tammy F.
