Crush debuts on the Bill Board charts!

LISTEN TO CRUSH NOW
Having a song chart on Billboards is a very important accomplishment for any artist. Billboard Charts are the most internationally recognized music charts in the industry since 1936. Though, the actual history of the magazine portion of Billboards goes back to 1894. This is where every artist dreams of being one day.
Airplay is a technical term used in the radio industry to state how frequently a song is being played on a radio station. For example, a song which is being played several times every day would be classed as receiving a large amount of airplay. The term is also used in the same way regarding music video channels, to state how often a music video is being played
Now, the idea is to get David’s song into the Top 40. Once an artist gets to the Top 40, every station in American and international affiliates will play it. Since the Top 40 show is one of the most recognized weekly radio shows in the industry. Top 40 radio is one of the most dominant radio formats in North America and other countries such as the United Kingdom by BBC Radio. The American Top 40 syndicated radio program has been around since 1970.
Record charts are compiled using a variety of criteria. These commonly include sales of records, cassettes and compact discs; amount of radio airplay; requests to radio disk jockeys; voting for songs by the radio listeners and, recently, number of downloads. Though, the vinyl records of the past are long gone and so are cassettes. Now days, the CD and DVD are the dominant formats.
Currently there are about 35 countries that have popular music charts. But obviously, Billboards is the dominant one.
Airplay is very important because it classifies the song as a popular song among radio. But obviously the most important part is Sales. Sales is what makes a record label profitable. The higher a song is on the charts, the more money a record label can make and in turn the better opportunities that open up for the artist.

Side note, why did Jive records decide to premiere Crush on Elvis Duran and Z100? No one knows for sure, but could it be for any of these reasons?
Z100 is considered the biggest CHR/Top 40 station in the country, due to its 5 million audience weekly.
The Elvis Duran Show which has been in operation since 1996 is the most popular Top 40 show in America. Receiving all kinds of awards such as but not limited to:
Best Top 40 Disk Jockey, Best Top 40 Major Market Air Personality, Best Morning Show in New York, Personality of the Year by Radio and Records.
His show is simulcasted in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Miami., though making the audience he can reach more larger.
David Archuleta has also been in the top 100 on the bill board charts in Canada>more than one time, during his time on American Idol.

Billboard charts although is the dominant chart in North America. It also tracks the Canadian Top 100. During American Idol season 7, David was listed on the Canadian Top 100 charts on Billboards.
